Frank Pietrangelo was the first goalie that I can recall wearing (what was at the time) a rather unorthodox number 40 (It's since become quite common; Lalime, Rask)

Apparently Ron Tugnutt briefly wore number 40 during 1988.

Robin Lehner wore 40 for the Senators, Sabres, Islanders and Blackhawks.

(Lecavalier wore 40 with the Flyers, as his usual number 4 having been retired by the Flyers in honor of Barry Ashbee, a member of the Flyers from 1970-74 until suffering a career-ending injury)
